Why should a company partner with ASCENT?
Corporate entities with dual use technology have historically had challenges doing business with the federal government. Institutional investors accelerating dual-use technologies have continuously struggled because of the government’s inability to timely co-invest. Given the myriad of factors that must be aligned to achieve this: corporate leadership and institutional investors; individuals with expert knowledge of the appropriations process, opportunities, and the designated technologies; and development and monitoring of relationships with program managers and contract officers, the sustainability of long-term product development is frequently jeopardized.
ASCENT takes a unique approach to dual-use technology corporations doing business with the federal government. Our team focuses on the corporate investment timing needs and forges a critical path movement through the agency/program to the congressional appropriators. ASCENT brings together in one organization the experts and relationships necessary to secure participation in federal government programs and related funding opportunities. ASCENT manages communications and expectations for all stakeholders in real-time and dramatically increases the probability of success for institutional accelerated dual-use technology companies. The following diagram illustrates how ASCENT navigates the three areas that must be mastered to ensure sustainable success.
What are the costs to partner with ASCENT ?
The ASCENT Council was established to maximize acceleration and not burden growth companies with substantial cash outlay requirements. Therefore, the ASCENT Council’s financial compensation is principally through three specific value vehicles: warrant funds, equity, and shared revenue. Uniquely, one or any value combination can be structured depending on the current condition, abilities, and structure of the ASCENT member company.
